Exciting times for us and the #BigBatchCook scheme, which was inspired by the awesome work they’re doing at Cedarwood Trust on the Meadowell Estate

The initiative was born out of our desire to want to help during lockdown and was made possible thanks to the local knowledge of Whitley Bay Big Local and the generous people at Evan’s Bistro who let us use their facilities. Not only have we passed the 3,000 meals mark – we’re now chuffed to bits to be able to announce that those really vulnerable people we were feeding are now going to be looked after by Second Bite Cedarwood

There are so many people to thank such as our suppliers Tyneside Foodservice Ltd, Tom Owens the Greengrocer and Prime Cut Wholesale Butchers, our wonderful volunteers, all those who donated and also the likes of Whitley Bay Chamber of Trade and Hannah’s Helping Hand who made the initiative all the nicer with some lovely treats. There have also been some really inspiring stories born out of how we’ve helped change the lives of people going through tough times and it was heartwarming to be officially recognised…

If you’re interested in supporting your local community like this and by raising money through doing things like the Santa’s Sleigh so we’re able to do things like this then why not get in touch – we’d love to hear from you…
